Michail Antonio reveals Adam Lallana is the best player he’s played with and Virgil van Dijk is the best he’s come up against.

Liverpool fans might be on the fence right now when it comes to Adam Lallana and are fed up with anyone suggesting ‘he’s like a new signing’ after the Englishman made his return to action after a six-month exodus on the sidelines.

That in mind, Michail Antonio has no qualms when admitting that the former Southampton midfielder is the best player he’s ever played with. Speaking to the Mirror, Antonio revealed that Lallana has no weak foot and has boundless energy.

On top of that, the West Ham striker admitted that Virgil van Dijk is the best defender he’s played against and in the Premier League. Praise indeed.

Speaking ahead of the launch of EA SPORTS UFC 3, Antonio said: “The best player I’ve played with is Adam Lallana. I just think he’s quality.

“He’s both footed. When I was playing with him at Southampton I kept asking him what foot he is. He said ‘I’m both’. I was like well everyone’s dominant one foot and he was like ‘no I’m both’.

“Literally I couldn’t tell. It’s unbelievable. He’s not quick but he gets past people, he’s got so much energy he’s just a quality player.”

With Liverpool lacking creativity in midfield in Coutinho’s absence and many calling for a new signing to be made, it might be time for Lallana to step up and showcase the form he did last season.

Antonio added: “Playing against, because I’m an attacking player I’d say Virgil van Dijk. He’s literally got everything you could want from a defender, as a centre half.

“I rate him very highly. I think he’s possibly the best centre half in the league.”

The Dutchman joined Liverpool on the 1st of January for £75 million and will certainly go a long way to cementing some of the cracks at the back – although Jamie Carragher was not convinced after the Reds lost to Swansea.
