Liverpool were linked with a move for Gremio forward Luan a year ago and the Brazilian has opened up on the possibility of a move to Merseyside.
With Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino scoring regularly for the Reds, Liverpool aren’t in desperate need of reinforcements up front and Luan isn’t a player that comes close to either.
Sadio Mane, despite struggling for form this season, has 14 goal contributions and has turned in some really impressive performances in big games.
Although Liverpool haven’t made an approach for the Brazilian, Luan has revealed he could move to the Premier League if the Reds went through the appropriate channels.
“If I knew, I wouldn’t hide. I always said that I would leave it to Gremio and to my agent, and if they had something concrete, they should talk to me,” said Luan.
“No one has come to me, so there is nothing. It has to be good for me, it has to be good for Gremio. I will not rush to want to leave soon, just like in the middle of last year.
“For the moment that we were through, I decided to stay. It was my decision alone. Now it’s the start of the season and I want to regain my form and rhythm to play.
“What I know is that I want to play the next game as soon as possible here at Gremio.”
Luan is settled at Gremio and is clearly a player who values loyalty to his club – a rare thing in modern football. I personally can’t see Liverpool making a move for the 24-year-old given that there are better options out there.
If Jurgen Klopp had to make a move for a Brazilian forward, it would be Richarlison. The Watford no.11 is a carbon copy of Roberto Firmino, only six years younger and a lot more raw – not that Klopp has an issue with that.
