With a huge clash with Manchester City looming large, Jurgen Klopp will be boosted by Mohamed Salah’s return to training today.

Salah has missed the last two games for Liverpool with a groin injury but after responding well to treatment, the African Player of the Year returned to training today with a broad smile on his face.

The Egyptian is the Reds’ top goalscorer with 23 goals in all competitions and will be hugely important for Jurgen Klopp for the rest of the season.

Philippe Coutinho was announced as a Barcelona player on Monday and the rest of Liverpool’s attackers will need to step up big time to ensure the Brazilian’s absence isn’t felt too keenly.

According to the Liverpool ECHO, Daniel Sturridge also made a return to training after battling back from a bout of illness as well as a hamstring injury. The Englishman has been linked with a move away this month but no official word has been said on his future.

Jordan Henderson and Alberto Moreno were both absent as they continue their respective rehabs while Nathaniel Clyne is still AWOL. The right back hasn’t been seen since the summer as speculation grows regarding his extensive absence from the spotlight.

Liverpool enjoyed their first training session back in the United Kingdom after Klopp allowed his players a few days rest in Dubai after a hectic festive schedule. A big test awaits them, however, with Manchester City visiting Anfield on Sunday.
