Liverpool trained at Melwood on Tuesday evening as they prepared to face NK Maribor in the Champions League at Anfield.

After a positive performance at the weekend against Huddersfield Town, Liverpool make another appearance in the Champions League with the Reds hosting Slovenian outfit NK Maribor at Anfield.

All indications point towards a comfortable win for the hosts despite the absences of key players in Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mané, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne. The away leg saw the Merseysiders beat Maribor 7-0 and a repeat performance will put them in a strong position to finish top of their group.

Although there are never any easy games in either the Premier League or the Champions League, Klopp is expected to rotate his side and this could see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain handed his full Liverpool debut.

Many fans have been calling for the winger to be given more game time and should he be given his chance, I expect him to take it after scoring a goal late on against Maribor in Slovenia two weeks ago.

Another Englishman in Daniel Sturridge is expected to keep his place in the side after scoring at the weekend. That, coupled with the likely event that Philippe Coutinho could miss out with a persistent abductor issue and Sturridge could build on his 100th club goal at Anfield.

Dejan Lovren is also a doubt for the match after the Croatian defender was pulled from the squad at the eleventh hour against Huddersfield with what transpired to be a thigh injury.

Klopp will certainly have a few big decisions to make before kick-off but given the difference in quality between Liverpool and Maribor, there should be no concern over the Reds’ ability to grab a win.
