After missing training today at Melwood, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge are expected to be unfit to play for Liverpool against Watford on Saturday.
Liverpool were down at Melwood for training today but neither Coutinho nor Sturridge appeared in the club’s photos of the session.
While Coutinho’s absence has frightened some supporters into believing that the Brazilian is nearing a move to Barcelona despite Klopp’s firm statement on the matter, he and Sturridge will sit out of Liverpool’s trip to Watford on Saturday.
Although Daniel Sturridge won’t be missed as much as he plays second fiddle to Roberto Firmino, Coutinho’s influence will be a big loss as Liverpool look to open their Premier League account with a bang.
Nathaniel Clyne is also absent as the right back has missed the entirety of Liverpool’s pre-season programme. Youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to deputise and if he does it will be only his third senior start.
Jordan Henderson is back after the skipper overcame a virus which saw him miss the final pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao in Dublin.
Adam Lallana is also absent which means Klopp’s selection in the middle of the park is quite straightforward with Hendo, Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum expected to crack the nod.
Liverpool’s game against Watford on Saturday commences at 12:30 BST at Vicarage Road.
