Liverpool have submitted an €83M bid for Naby Keïta as the Reds look to tempt RB Leipzig into selling their best player, according to Bild.

The German publication is very brief in their report on Liverpool’s interest in Keïta, with the article focusing more on the training ground incident involving the Guinean midfielder and Diego Demme this morning.

This morning, Keïta made headlines for all the wrong reasons as he injured teammate Demme with a terrible challenge which subsequently saw Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhüttl call off training.

Many Liverpool fans are hopeful that the nature of the challenge will see cracks appear in Keïta’s relationship with the Leipzig training camp.

Yet, the German side’s Twitter account shared a video today which makes it appear as though the pair have made up after the incident.

Regardless of where Keïta does or doesn’t stand with his teammates, the fact remains that the 22-year old wants to join Liverpool this summer.

Bild report that the Reds have submitted an €83 million bid for the midfielder although the German publication do not shed any further light on the matter.

Leipzig have already rejected two bids for Keïta, one worth £57m and one worth £66m and it seems likely that Liverpool will move onto alternatives if they are unsuccessful with this bid.

Jürgen Klopp wants to sign Keïta to have the midfielder’s energy, pace and versatility at his disposal next season.

Despite only playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues for one season, Keïta is widely regarded as one of the brightest talents on the continent and is expected to be one of the best midfielders in the world in just a few years.

Liverpool are desperate to sign Keïta and the Guinean wants the Reds just as badly but Leipzig are looking to do everything they can do to stop the 22-year-old from moving this summer.
