RB Leipzig have been steadfast in their resolve to cling onto Naby Keïta this summer and insist no amount of money will convince them to let the Guinean leave this summer.

After seeing their pursuit of Virgil van Dijk blocked by Southampton, albeit for slightly different reasons, Liverpool could be set to miss out on another high profile target despite the player being keen on a switch.

Keïta would like to move to Merseyside this summer to further his career but is determined not to rock the boat, as it were.

This is good news for RB Leipzig as it means Liverpool will be unable to make a deal happen for the player.

The Reds are relying on player power to make a deal materialise but if Keïta is unwilling to force a move through in the way Sadio Mané did to Southampton from RB Salzburg then they have little to work with.

Leipzig’s Director of Sports Ralf Rangnick today said, “We will definitely not be letting any key players go. There’s nothing that will make us budge.”

And in support of the German’s stance, Paul Joyce of the The Times reports that there is no amount of money that could persuade RBL to part with Keïta this summer.

This comes after it had been widely reported that if Liverpool offered Leipzig around £70m, the Bundesliga runners-up might consider letting Keïta leave.

Yet, it now seems as though Liverpool could miss out on their top midfield target and it might be time for Jürgen Klopp to start looking for alternatives.

While there is plenty of time for Liverpool to get transfers finalised before the Premier League season begins, supporters are beginning to stress that the wrong players could be recruited.

It remains to be seen if Rangnick’s public damning of all speculation around his club’s players is a bid to drive up the fee Liverpool will have to pay or if the German is genuine in his belief that Leipzig will hold onto Keïta and Forsberg this summer.

With several weeks of the transfer window to go, we will see what happens but I have faith that Klopp will sign the right players.
