Liverpool’s stance on Sheyi Ojo has left Newcastle United frustrated in their attempts to sign the winger on loan, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Former Reds manager Rafa Benitez is looking to add another winger to the fold at Newcastle and has turned to the club which he won the Champions League with.
Young Sheyi Ojo is the man that the Magpies boss is keen on taking to Newcastle but Liverpool have frustrated Benitez’ side in their pursuit of Ojo.
Newcastle have already signed Christian Atsu from Chelsea and have approached Liverpool about Ojo’s availability for loan. The Merseyside club, according to the Sunderland Echo, “have made it clear that the winger is unlikely to be farmed out this season.”
Aside from newly promoted Newcastle, a number of Premier League sides are said to have contacted Liverpool about the possibility of taking Ojo on loan for the 2017/18 season.
While Newcastle’s only hope will be that Liverpool have a change of heart before the transfer window slams shut in August, Sheyi Ojo looks set to start pre-season with Liverpool next week at Melwood.
Liverpool’s first pre-season game is against Tranmere Rovers and will offer the likes of Ojo and his fellow youngsters the chance to show Jürgen Klopp they have what it takes to take part next season.
Mohamed Salah, currently on holiday in Egypt after completing a club record move to Liverpool, will take part in his first pre-season under Klopp and supporters couldn’t be more excited to see the Egyptian get going.
The Reds have completed two signings this summer with Salah the second to be announced after it was announced Dominic Solanke would join upon the expiry of his Chelsea contract.
