Jürgen Klopp speaks to the media ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with West Ham.
Liverpool are on the precipice of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, with just two games to go. The penultimate game of the season is a trip to the London Stadium to face Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United.
The presser involved an update on injuries, with the good news being that Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana are both available for the weekend.
Taken from Liverpool’s official website, Klopp said, “He looks ready. Him and Adam are two top players. These two are options.“
Adam Lallana and Sturridge transformed Liverpool when they came on against Southampton on Sunday – with the striker taking more shots than Divock Origi did the entire time he was on the field.
The bad news, however, is that both Roberto Firmino and Lucas Leiva have missed training this week but Klopp seems hopeful they’ll return to face West Ham.
Klopp, “Roberto and Lucas felt something this week. We will have to see.
“Roberto felt a muscle – we have to wait and give him time. Lucas will train today. Roberto will train tomorrow if possible.“
Liverpool have shown an extraordinary ability to buckle under pressure when it has reached that point in the season when a little more character is required. Klopp, however, doesn’t believe that the game against West Ham is any more important than others Liverpool has played recently.
Klopp, “It’s as significant as the last few games. The pressure comes at the end of the season. Competition is strong – but so are we.“
