Jürgen Klopp spoke to the media at Melwood with Southampton due at Anfield on Sunday for an important Premier League game.
Liverpool will continue their bid to finish in the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League when Southampton rock up at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds have yet to beat the Saints this season with one draw in the Premier League in November and a pair of 1-0 defeats in both legs of the EFL Cup semi-finals in late January.
With the stakes considerably higher than in January despite the opportunity to win silverware, Klopp discussed the squad’s fitness level’s with a room full of journalists at Melwood.
Klopp on facing Southampton, via Liverpool’s official Twitter account, “We have a good idea of how they will play. That’s a good thing in preparation for the game.”
For once, and it really is bizarre, Liverpool is in good shape with regards to injuries. Daniel Sturridge, who return to the squad last week is available and Klopp is well pleased about this.
On the English striker, Klopp noted, “In this moment it’s really important to have him as an option. Everyone knows he can decide a game in a second.”
Philippe Coutinho’s fitness is also less of a question mark as it was during the week, with Klopp saying, “He was running yesterday. It looks positive.”
