According to The Liverpool Echo, Philippe Coutinho missed training yesterday after picking up a knock on Monday evening against Watford but will be fit to play Southampton on Sunday.
Much to the horror of all Liverpool supporters, Philippe Coutinho was only able to feature for 13 minutes against Watford on Monday. Just a few minutes into the game, a robust challenge saw the Brazilian suffer a dead leg which meant he was withdrawn for Adam Lallana soon after.
Despite fears of a more serious injury, Coutinho will be fit to play this weekend when Claude Puel’s Southampton side travels to Anfield for the second time this season.
There aren’t any fresh injury concerns for Jürgen Klopp, with the German enjoying something of a replenished squad for the last few games of the season.
Liverpool is in the hunt for Champions League football and with only three games to play, it’s not the time to slip up.

Klopp is hopeful of having Coutinho fit and firing on on Sunday to overcome a side that Liverpool has been unable to beat in three attempts this season. Southampton held the Reds to a 0-0 draw in November and beat them twice in the EFL Cup semi-final to secure passage to the final where they were ultimately defeated by Manchester United.
Speaking of the devil, United plays Arsenal on Sunday in a game that has serious ramifications for top four placing. Regardless of what happens at the Emirates, it is of utmost importance that Liverpool manages to win against Southampton otherwise the result between Arsenal and United is irrelevant.
It’s up to Liverpool to secure their place in next season’s Champions League and, without sounding dramatic, failure to do so would be catastrophic.
