According to reports, Liverpool are interested in signing Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa with Tottenham also said to be keen.
Last season, fans were shocked when Liverpool splashed the cash and spent £36 million on Southampton winger Sadio Mané. The Senegalese has been incredible this season for the Reds, as evidenced by his PFA Team of the Year nomination, although it was strange he wasn’t even nominated for PFA Player of the Year.
But I digress, Jürgen Klopp is supposedly interested in Douglas Costa with Juventus and Tottenham also said to be after his signature. Considering that Liverpool signed Mané for £36 million last summer, the rumoured £35 million fee for Costa would be an absolute bargain if the Reds pulled it off!
Except, because the source is Tuttosport I doubt there is much accuracy to the claims.
Seeing as we don’t speak Italian at Rousing the Kop, we’re trsuting the guys at The Express who claim that Tuttosport report that Liverpool are the frontrunners to land Costa this summer which is certainly a bold claim.

Signing a player of Douglas Costa’s class would only serve to improve Liverpool, although it would require a reshuffling of the current forward line in order to start him.
With talismanic Brazilian Philippe Coutinho typically starting on the left flank, Klopp would need to either move the former Inter Milan midfielder into midfield, diminishing his influence as an attacking threat or find an alternative for Costa.
It could be that Liverpool aren’t interested in Douglas Costa at all and Jürgen Klopp won’t have this headache to deal with. Although it wouldn’t hurt to have quality players like Costa in reserve instead of Ben Woodburn and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who just aren’t ready for consistent appearances in the Premier League.
If you look at the current league leaders Chelsea, their bench is stacked with players who can influence a game in the latter stages of a game.
For instance, with their FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham deadlocked at 2-2 this weekend, Antonio Conte threw Eden Hazard and Diego Costa on who he had the liberty of resting due to reliable backup in Willian and Michy Batshuayi.
Liverpool lack this depth and for this reason, they have toiled the entire season and may well miss out on the top four as a result.
