Timo Werner has discussed what it would like to hear You’ll Never Walk Alone at Anfield and recognises that it would be special.
This week, Werner took the liberty of speaking out about how he wants to stay at RB Leipzig. This after links tied him with a move to Liverpool in the summer. The German forward has been the catalyst up front for the Bundesliga side, much in the same way that Roberto Firmino has been for Liverpool.
In spite of talking up his desire for a stay in the Bundesliga, Werner also spoke about what he though Liverpool’s club anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone must be like to witness.
“If you were to play at Anfield and hear the fans sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,’ it would certainly be something special,” Werner told Sport Bild.
He then added, “England has a different feel, but I am also still young player. I feel at home here at RB right now. Leipzig can continue to grow, and if I could be part it I’d be delighted.”
Liverpool fans may well get to see Werner first hand this evening with Germany set to take on England at Signal Iduna Park. Although he hasn’t made his international debut as of yet, with stars like Mesut Özil missing, he might just get his chance.
I personally can’t see Werner moving to Liverpool in the summer given his comments. Werner, and possibly even Naby Keita, will want to stay at RB Leipzig to play in the Champions League next season for which the German side are a certainty to qualify and Liverpool are a doubt.
