According to James Pearce, Liverpool will do whatever it takes to sign Julian Brandt in the summer transfer window.
It has been clear for some time that Liverpool will make an approach to sign Julian Brandt this summer. James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo confirmed in an interview with Anfield Edition that the Reds will pull out all the stops to sign him.
Brandt recently indicated that he is open to a move abroad if it furthers his development as a footballer. The German has been playing some terrific football for Bayer Leverkusen and would be a fantastic addition at Liverpool. Brandt can play on the wing or down the middle which would aid the fluidity of Klopp’s attacking football.
Speaking to Anfield Edition, Pearce discussed Brandt’s potential transfer to Merseyside.
“I’m not sure if he’s the no. 1 target but he’s certainly very high up on Klopp’s summer shopping list,” he pointed out.
“Klopp wanted to buy him in January but Leverkusen were adamant that he wasn’t for sale. Klopp rates Brandt very highly and Liverpool will certainly go all out to get him this summer.”
Liverpool are aiming to finish in the top four this season after their title challenge fizzled out spectacularly in the first few weeks of the new year. Qualifying for next season’s Champions League is essential for both transfer targets and where the club needs to be. Watching Barcelona’s incredible comeback against Paris-Saint Germain made me so nostalgic for the days when the big boys came to Anfield.
Julian Brandt is high up on Liverpool’s transfer list and as James Pearce indicated, he’s not the number one target but he’s certainly a priority.
This summer transfer window should be exciting for Liverpool fans as Jürgen Klopp continues to get rid of useless players and recruit players capable of challenging for silverware. Let’s hope the ruthlessness that Klopp is famed for is revealed.
