Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino were all missing from training photos from Monday’s training session ahead of Premier League clash with Burnley this weekend.
After Liverpool’s massively impressive performance at Anfield against Arsenal on Saturday, the Reds look forward to their next test at home against Burnley. Jürgen Klopp had his players preparing for the game yesterday at Melwood although, judging from training pictures released by the club, there were a few notable absentees.
Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino don’t appear in any of the 63 photos in Liverpoolfc.com’s Melwood gallery. The realisation that all three could be missing against Burnley on Saturday sparked something of a mini-meltdown on social media.
Before the photos were released there was already a suspicion that Hendo might miss the game as his bruised foot proved too much to even appear on the bench against Arsenal whereas Dejan Lovren made the matchday squad.
As far as Daniel Sturridge is concerned, the Englishman is injured so often these days that it’s no longer a surprise when he is ruled out or missing from training. If he misses the Burnley game, it will further the belief that his time at Anfield is coming to a close.
Roberto Firmino’s absence from training or lack of appearance in squad photos has many supporters concerned. The Brazilian was excellent against Arsenal and could be the key against Burnley, unless he is injured.
It might just be that Firmino wasn’t in any photos but was actually at training or had media duties. There are a wide range of reasons that could explain his absence, really.
