Lyon manager Bruno Genesio admits that it will be difficult to hold onto Lacazette this summer as Liverpool are continually linked with a move for the Frenchman.
As has become an annual trend, when Liverpool’s season seems to have come to an end, rumours of what will come in the way of transfers begin. The Mirror’s Dave Maddock believes that five to six high-profile signings will join Liverpool and that Lacazette and Red Bull Leipzig’s Naby Keita could be two of those signings.
It must be said, that although Liverpool fans condemned the absurd transfer of Paul Pogba to Manchester United for £89 million, there is a deep lying desire for marquee signings. Bringing in world class players not only improves the team but also generates excitement and anticipation.
It’s not exactly necessary to fabricate this anticipation by spending almost £100 million on a single footballer, but it can result in success as Chelsea and the Manchester clubs can attest to.
Liverpool may or not be interested in signing Lacazette this summer but the Frenchman is certainly looking to leave the Ligue 1 and would be a chance spurned to not at least try and sign him.
When Lyon manager Genesio was asked about Lacazette’s future by Telefoot he replied, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, “I don’t know, he’s happy at OL, isn’t he?
“We’ll see at the end of the season, it could be hard to keep him but we’ll see.”
Klopp has warned his players that they are all playing for their futures after they slumped to a 3-1 defeat against Leicester City. They responded by beating Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield this weekend but will need to build on that in order to ensure that it wasn’t in vain.
Having spoken about the lack of quality in Liverpool’s squad recently, Klopp will certainly be revamping this summer but whether or not he will be signing players like Lacazette is unknown.
