Reds target Julian Brandt has opened the door to a move away from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer which could suit Liverpool very well.
It’s common knowledge that Liverpool don’t have loads of wingers at their disposal and this has been an issue when Sadio Mané has been unavailable. Philippe Coutinho functions as a winger of sorts on the left-hand side but he favours his right foot and cuts in a lot, forcing Liverpool to play quite narrow.
One of Liverpool’s primary targets for this summer is Julian Brandt who can operate on the wing or through the middle.
The young German wasn’t forthcoming when asked about his plans for the future but hinted that he would be open to leaving the BayArena.
“You can take the step (abroad), but I don’t think you have to,” said Brandt. “Those that back themselves to do it have nothing in their way.
“I don’t think it’s a bad thing to try and find your feet abroad. Julian (Draxler) and Leroy (Sane) are the best examples of that right now. They are both young players and have huge futures ahead of them.”
On his own future, Brandt added: “It’s tough to say. I’m happy here and what happens next, we will see.
“I think the allure of being world famous is normal. It would be a lie to say it wasn’t alluring, but where and when you never know.
“Football moves so quickly, and as quickly as things develop positively, they can also go south and see you slip into a place where you’re forgotten.”
Brandt’s modesty and humility is so refreshing. It’s clear to see why Klopp would want a such a player in his squad. There would likely never be any disputes between Brandt and another player purely due to how down to earth he is.
Also, he’s a bloody good footballer too. That’s important, I suppose.
