Liverpool are on the verge of completing a loan deal for Pedro Chirivella with Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles.
The Spanish defensive midfielder has not played for Liverpool’s first team since the disastrous 3-1 loss at the Liberty Stadium last season but despite not performing well for the seniors, Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Chirivella.
According to the Liverpool Echo, in a bid to further the Spaniard’s development, he will be loaned to Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles for the remainder of the season. More game time in a less competitive league will allow him to return with more confidence and knowledge of how the game is played at senior level.
Chirivella missed the start of the season due to a quad injury and as such has not made an appearance under Jurgen Klopp but has been in very impressive form for the U23s. When the 19-year-old joins Go Ahead Eagles, he will help the Eredivisie side avoid relegation. At the moment, they are at the bottom of the league and in need of a fresh outlook to spark some life into their play.
Klopp will be keeping an eye on Chirivella’s progress and if he does well he may well find himself in the squad next season as Liverpool will need more players if they are to rotate efficiently before and after Champions League fixtures.
