Claudio Ranieri has said that Liverpool cannot sign Kasper Schmeichel.

One of the weirdest transfer rumours in recent years is the story that Liverpool want Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel. Very odd indeed, especially when you consider the Premier League champion is already 28 years old and cannot be classified as ‘one for the future.’

This supposed interest in Schmeichel has been ended as abruptly and unexpected as it began as Claudio Ranieri has said Liverpool have no chance of signing the Denmark international.

He said, “Kasper has a signature on the contract. We won’t sell Kasper until any circumstances. We don’t need money. No chance. Liverpool can win title without Kasper.”

Liverpool have had some very serious issues in the goalkeeping department this season with Loris Karius not living up to the hype after he signed from Mainz and came with the reputation of being one of the best goalkeepers in Germany.

Despite these issues, Klopp has said publicly several times that he has no intention of signing another ‘keeper and yet the papers continue to report that Liverpool could stand to lose a lot by not reinforcing their goalkeeping ranks.

Klopp, however, disagrees and that’s what counts.
