So, Inter Milan are reportedly in to buy Lucas Leiva for £4 million.

Alright then. Lucas has been at Liverpool for ten years and demonstrated his loyalty to the club by agreeing to stay at the club in the summer despite the fact that he knew he’d have to accept a squad role which promised very little football.

The Mirror are reporting that Inter Milan are interested in signing Lucas for four million pounds next month as the Nerazzurri look to find stability in the centre of the park. While the Italian club may need a new defensive midfielder, the fact that there are still reports in spite of this is just annoying.

Having already had a half-hearted attempt to sign Lucas rejected in the summer, Inter Milan might not have much hope of signing the Brazilian. Although the former Gremio man has only made eight appearances in all competitions, Jurgen Klopp counts him as an important player in the squad as shown by his appearances in the Premier League when Joel Matip or Dejan Lovren are injured.

The Mirror claim that Liverpool will be willing to let Lucas leave because of the lack of playing time he’s receiving but I just can’t see that being true. It was clear heading into the season that Lucas would be behind Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum in the midfield pecking order.

Lucas is a fan favourite, not least for the viral vine, but because of his loyalty and passion. He was never as technically gifted as the likes of Coutinho but he is definitely one of the club’s most loyal servants and has won some important games for Liverpool.

This is what we have to say to you Inter:

  1. Inter would never buy him – loan for 6 months only to replace Felipe Melo on the bench.
Banega , Brozovic , Joao Mario , Medal , Kondogbis – all better than him.
