Sardar Azmoun has been linked with a January move to Liverpool and the Iranian forward could be a typical ‘Jurgen Klopp signing.’
With Philippe Coutinho seriously injured and Sadio Mane leaving in January for the African Cup of Nations, Klopp is compelled to reinforce his forward line if a convincing title challenge is to be sustained – even if defensive signings are more important.
A staple of Liverpool’s play this season has been fast and direct attacking play and, without Coutinho or Mane, the Reds’ attack is by and by, a lot less potent. While Divock Origi is an upcoming talent, he doesn’t have the know-how yet to lead the Liverpool front line.
As such, Liverpool has been linked with the signing of impressive forward Sardar Azmoun. The FC Rostov attacker has scored in Champions League games against Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid and was a huge part in a surprise win over the former.
Jurgen Klopp is famed for his knack to find and nurture players into world class talents. In this regard, his CV boasts the development of talents like Marco Reus, Mats Hummels and none other than Roberto Lewandowski.
At Liverpool, Klopp has already signed Joel Matip, who has been a gem, and Loris Karius, who is very much a work in progress. Despite the comparative status of both players at Liverpool, there is no denying that Klopp is always looking for a bargain that he can turn into ‘the next big thing’
Signing Azmoun, who would definitely not break the bank, would be yet another Klopp signing and one that FSG would be on board with. According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are keeping tabs on the forward and, should an offer be tabled, Azmoun says he might be interested.
Ajax and PSV Eindhoven have also been linked with Rostov, but Liverpool would be a far more attractive destination, especially given the likelihood of the Reds qualifying for the Champions League next season.
Azmoun, as reported by the Metro, confirmed that he hasn’t received an offer yet but would consider every opportunity and take it on its merit.
“Ajax, PSV or Liverpool? I have [not] received any offers,” the exciting forward said.
“If there are, then I’m going to take my time to look into it, whether it comes from Liverpool or other clubs.”
