Liverpool have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race to sign Inter Milan’s Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Since Kondogbia signed for Inter Milan for €31 million from AS Monaco, he has regressed hugely and struggles to get regular game time in Italy. The midfielder clashed with Frank De Boer before he was sacked and his luck hasn’t swung with the arrival of Stefano Pioli.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan have made Kondogbia available for transfer with the Metro reporting that the club are unhappy with the Frenchman and are happy to release him in the winter transfer window.

The Nerazzurri are willing to let him leave on an initial loan deal with the option to buy for £18.5 million in the summer. In the report it said that Liverpool are front runners, even though he might not suit the Reds, but it also indicates that Chelsea are interested with Antonio Conte looking to provide cover for Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante.

Jurgen Klopp will be looking to add to his squad in January in order to bolster his side’s chances of success in the Premier League title race.

Coming off the back of a demoralising defeat at the hands of Bournemouth, it may be wise for Klopp to bring a player like Kondogbia in to add some strength to his side’s rather flimsy midfield.
