Here is this morning’s transfer roundup – it’s not a good one. Sorry.
You can tell, just by the sheer number of transfer rumours floating about, that another transfer window is drawing near. Despite Liverpool’s clear team unity and quality across the park, there are plenty of players being tipped to join the Reds in January as well as a few to leave in future windows.
Christian Pulisic to Liverpool in January?
Christian Pulisic was a target for Jurgen Klopp in the summer and Liverpool failed to convince Borussia Dortmund to release the American youngster. It would seem as though Klopp will be unsuccessful in attracting Pulisic to Merseyside again with Dortmund set to off him a contract to fend off any advances from other clubs.
Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director even spoke publicly of the club’s desire to keep hold of Pulisic.
“There have been some offers for him in the summer window from England and from German clubs, but we would like to have him here and develop him here,” Zorc told Sports Illustrated, via the Liverpool Echo.
“We did not educate him to sell him. We have a long-running contract until 2019, but because of his development the club is ready to speak to him to prolong his contract at any time.”
Alexander Isak linked with Liverpool again
Have your salt ready with this one. Calciomercato’s exclusive claims that Liverpool are interested in Swedish youngster Alexander Isak. The striker has scored 11 goals in 26 games for AIK Solna this season, but his build and style of play would be an issue when playing under Jurgen Klopp.
Standing at a gigantic six foot three, Isak is hardly the type of forward you’d expect to be leading Klopp’s front line. That being said, Robert Lewandowski stands at just over six foot and he was transformed into a world class attacking talent under Klopp’s guidance.
There is the question of Calciomercato’s reliability and so I’d suggest you be careful when betting on this one. The Italian website reports that Juventus are highly interested and that Liverpool have made contact already, but that Isak will likely decide his future in the summer.
Coutinho to Barcelona rumours are getting a bit boring
Yes, alright. We know that Coutinho and Neymar are pals and that they link up superbly for Brazil, but that’s where this ends. Please let that be where it ends.
The Liverpool Echo have cited Spanish newspaper Sports report which claims that Barcelona have made signing Philippe Coutinho their top priority. I find it somewhat annoying that each time Coutinho puts in a great attacking display, which is becoming more often, newspapers and websites globally link the Brazilian with a move to Barcelona. They already have Suarez. And Messi. And Neymar. They don’t need to sign Coutinho and hopefully Jurgen Klopp won’t let them.
With the way that Coutinho is playing, it was really just a matter of time before the rumours linking him with a move away from Liverpool picked up again. What we really need is FSG to get him to sign a new contract and get him to express his heartfelt love for Liverpool. Failing that, we could just chain him to the new Main Stand.
