According to The Daily Star, Lorenzo Insigne’s agent will be contacting the Liverpool higher-ups this week to discuss a January transfer.
Alright, this one has been developing nicely for several days now and I’m not entirely sure how to feel about it. While Insigne might be a rapid forward with experience in the Champions League, the track record of Italians at Liverpool isn’t all that great.
The story goes that Insigne has had something of a falling out with owner Aurelio De Laurentiis over his £100,000-a-week wage demands. Following that, Insigne missed a penalty in Napoli’s 3-2 Champions League against Besiktas and was jeered by his own fans to the point of tears.
It would seem that Insigne now wants a move away from Napoli and that Liverpool is a likely destination. Apparently, the winger’s agent is going to contact the Reds’ hierarchy to bring the Italian to Merseyside as soon as January, although, he will cost a hefty £44 million.
He would be a great addition to what is already a superb attacking lineup but on current form, he wouldn’t necessarily play right away – that’s if he was even signed.
