Liverpool has been linked with Inaki Williams this past week and the player has come out to settle the matter.

Despite signing Sadio Mane for £36 million from Southampton in the summer, Liverpool still needs backup with the Senegal attacker jetting off to the African Cup of Nations in January.

According to Mundo DeportivoLiverpool is ready to submit a bid for Williams worth £44 million and that would oblige Athletic Bilbao to allow the Reds to engage the forward in negotiations.

It would seem as though Williams has no intention of leaving Bilbao anytime soon. The Spanish forward seems settled with the La Liga side and has spoken of his desire to stay.

He told AS, “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m where I want to be.

“I’m very happy where I am and I am very grateful to Athletic, to the fans, the club and my team-mates for their support.

“The truth is I’m very happy here and I want to stay here for many years. I want to be the one who makes the crowd at the San Mames go wild by scoring loads of goals.”

Fair enough. It’s actually quite admirable that Williams doesn’t want to move just because a club like Liverpool may or may not have come calling. Not many players these days have the type of dedication and loyalty to stick it out with a club for a long period of time. Good for him.
