According to the Daily Mail, Agustin Davila is at Melwood for the next two weeks on trial basis and the Reds might sign him up.
The 17-year-old Uruguayan plays for Atletico Penarol in his native country and has scored over 100 goals at youth level. This blistering form has earned him a trial at Liverpool and Alex Inglethorpe will be judging whether or not he is up to the standards expected on Merseyside.
Davila flew into Liverpool on Saturday and joined up with the players at Kirkby. He will be assessed over a two week period by Inglethorpe and may well join the club’s academy. The last time Liverpool had a Uruguayan striker they almost won the league and while Davila is a long way off even being mentioned alongside Luis Suarez, there is an expectation that comes with players from South America.
The young striker has represented Uruguay at both U15 and U17 levels and has notched over 100 goals at youth level. He will be hoping to impress in his two weeks on Merseyside as it may well make or break him.
It’s very pleasing to see Liverpool’s academy so ambitious and forward thinking. Davila might become a star in the Reds’ youth setup and who would complain if he came anywhere near Suarez’ level?
