According to Transfermarketweb, Jurgen Klopp has asked the big wigs at Liverpool to sanction a move for Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Rumours linking Liverpool with the purchase of Geoffrey Kondogbia refuse to go away with several news outlets abroad touting the Frenchman to join the Merseyside club on loan in January.

Jurgen Klopp, according to Transfermarketweb, is ready to approach the club’s hierarchy with the intent of making a deal for Kondogbia happen. Liverpool has midfielders like Adam Lallana and Gini Wijnaldum working through injury and many people can’t see the appeal of signing Inter Milan’s out of favour midfielder.

An area which many supporters were bleak with Klopp about at the close of the transfer window was defensive midfield. Despite this, Jordan Henderson has made the number six role his very own with a series of impressive performances, including a real captain’s display at Stamford Bridge which would make Steven Gerrard proud.

With that in mind, I can’t see why Klopp would want to replace his captain who is in great form unless Kondogbia would merely serve to further strengthen Liverpool’s squad depth. It seems a bit unnecessary with Emre Can and Marko Grujic both waiting patiently for their chances.

Kondogbia’s relationship with manager Frank De Boer has deteriorated after the Dutchman pulled his player off after just 28 minutes against Bologna last month. With Kondogbia’s future in Italy in doubt, could his future lie with Liverpool?

Personally, I don’t think so, but I also didn’t think Liverpool would sign Sadio Mane and he has been a gem for the club.
