According to www.a-league.com.au, Liverpool and Manchester United were interested in signing Besart Berisha.
Berisha played against England B for Albania in 2007 and he made a name for himself with a highly impressive performance.
In a game that England won 3-1, the Albanian cut in and thundered a shot against the bar from all of 25 yards and, had the ball hit the back of the net, the goal would have been a scorcher.
Later in the game, after Albania conceded two goals, a blonde-haired Berisha broke through the English defence and placed a shot into the roof of the net.

The performance that Berisha put in attracted a lot of attention from English League clubs and he was duly signed by Burnley.
