Liverpool takes on Chelsea in yet another away game tomorrow night and Antonio Conte has said that David Luiz will start in John Terry’s absence.

Chelsea will be the latest top four challenger for Liverpool to compete with after the Reds started the season with games against Arsenal, Spurs and Leicester.

David Luiz, a £34 million deadline day purchase, will start against Liverpool after John Terry damaged ankle ligaments on the weekend. The Brazilian is prone to making mistakes and Liverpool will target this with the likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino ready to pounce on any errors he might make.

Antonio Conte, after confirming that Luiz will start, has spoken of his faith in his new signing to perform in his second spell in England.

Speaking during a press conference, Conte said, “David Luiz will play for the first time with us and we are confident about this.”

“We expect him to play very well, with great attention. We know David is a good player and we are working to put him in the best condition to give us the best of him.

“When new players arrive they need time to adapt to a new concept of football. Tomorrow we need to play David Luiz.

“He has worked a lot on defensive situations. I’m confident for him. He’s a good player and during the training sessions I have been seeing good things.”

The game against Liverpool will be Luiz’ first game back in a Chelsea shirt and it may take time for him to readjust. Luiz and Cahill will take some time to click again but they have proven their worth as a defensive pairing after shutting out Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League final.

Liverpool will be presented with opportunities, but against a resolute Chelsea defence, they will need to make the most from any and every chance that comes their way.
