Liverpool and Chelsea lock horns on Friday in a Premier League encounter and Emre Can looks likely to take part after a spell on the sidelines.
Can’s dominant presence in the engine room has been missed as the German has been recovering from a knock that he picked up in the EFL Cup against Burton Albion.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Can returns to training today at Melwood as the Reds train in preparation for the trip to London to face Stamford Bridge. Chelsea has had a great start to their season, taking 10 points from a possible 12.
Liverpool has missed Can’s strength and aggression in midfield and it will be very useful to have against a very robust Chelsea side. Lallana and Wijnaldum aren’t very physical players but Can, or even Marko Grujic, can bring that side of the game into play against Chelsea.
Can missed Premier League games against Burnley, Spurs and Leicester, but his return to the side can only mean good things. Even if Klopp doesn’t return the former Bayer Leverkusen man to the side, Can will provide competition for Liverpool’s midfielders, keeping them on their toes.

The Echo also report that Dejan Lovren is also available for selection after the Croatian picked up a nasty-looking black eye in the build-up to the game against Leicester. It has been confirmed by Liverpool that Lovren was not concussed but that he missed the game due to the swelling around his eye.
