According to the Express’ Paul Joyce, Mamadou Sakho returned to training with Liverpool yesterday with Jurgen Klopp refusing to freeze out the Frenchman.

The last six months have been turbulent for Sakho, to say the least. He was accused of illegal drug usage and was then sent home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour after breaking club rules on three separate occasions.

Despite this, Klopp will not ostracize Sakho and banish him to train on his own. According to Paul Joyce, Sakho returned to training yesterday and took part in the session as overseen by Klopp. Although the former Paris Saint-Germain defender rejected several loan moves away from Liverpool, he is aware of the fact that he will receive very little game time this season.

With Klopp not exiling Sakho, there is the off chance that he could return to playing this season. Considering there are apparent behavioural issues with Sakho, it’s probably best that he does his time on the sidelines. Klopp is a superb judge of character and if he thinks that Sakho is bad for the team then we have to trust his judgement.
