Liverpool played Huddersfield Town in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Melwood which the hosts lost 2-1.

Jurgen Klopp organised a friendly with David Wagner’s Huddersfield side in order to get some much-needed match sharpness for the likes of Joel Matip, Danny Ings and Lucas Leiva.

The visitors will return home pleased with the result having nicked two late goals to win the game 2-1. Ovie Ejaria’sĀ headered goal will count for little more than pride but it won’t dwell on anyone’s mind given the non-competitive nature of the game.

Klopp fielded a team consisting of the likes of Danny Ings, Roberto Firmino, Lucas Leiva, James Milner and Joel MatipĀ as the Reds look to prepare for their clash with Leicester City at Anfield next weekend.
