Mario Balotelli completed a deadline day move to Nice after Jürgen Klopp informed the forward that he had no future at Liverpool.

After two horrid years at Liverpool, Balotelli cut his losses and moved on. Nice has offered the Italian forward his latest new beginning.

Brendan Rodgers signed Balotelli for £16 million but immediately showed his lack of confidence in his new signing by branding him as a “calculated gamble.” When Klopp took over he informed the former Manchester City forward that there was no place at Liverpool for him.

According to the Daily Star, Balotelli said at his Nice unveiling, “It was a footballing decision to come here.”

“There were other teams, including first-rate ones. But I need to play, this year in particular.

“I liked Nice’s project. I spoke with the coach and he believes in me as I do in them.”

There weren’t many clubs coming in for Balotelli given his poor form and his reputation for trouble-making. Despite this, the Italian international claims he isn’t a risk.

“Aside from the fact that my career in football is very different from what keeps being written about me ever since I was 16, I don’t think I am a risk.

“I had some problems, particularly of a physical nature after the operation, that’s all that happened in the last two years.

“So I don’t think I am a gamble in any way, I just need some playing time.

“Things are very nice here, but above all this is a nice team, with a good group in which you can be comfortable. It’s like a family, which is very important for me.”
