Ex-Red Jamie Carragher has given Liverpool his backing to make a bid for top four this season.
Carragher, now working as a pundit for Sky Sports, is backing Liverpool to return to the Premier League elite with a push for the Champions League places this season.
In last season’s Premier League campaign, the Reds finished 21 points behind Leicester City in eighth position. Jürgen Klopp has started his first full season with Liverpool, making his own signings and most importantly, getting rid of those he deems surplus to requirements.
Liverpool doesn’t have any European football to contend with this season, and Jamie Carragher is tipping the Premier League to return to normalcy after the fairytale craziness of the 2015/16 campaign.
“I think it will go back to the norm. I know Leicester fans won’t like me to say that. I think the heavyweights will come back,” Carragher told Goal.
“I’d expect the top four to consist of Manchester City, Man United, Chelsea and I think Liverpool might get in there.
“I just think the fact that Liverpool have got no European football, same as Chelsea, I think it’s a massive advantage they have over the others.”
