Mario Balotelli has completed a permanent move to Nice, and the forward has left for the French side on a free transfer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Despite having a year left on his deal with Liverpool, Balotelli was allowed to complete a free transfer to the Ligue 1 outfit this evening. Such is the Merseyside’s desperation to be rid of the Italian that there was no concern for compensation.

Balotelli, who signed for Liverpool as Luis Suarez’ supposed replacement, was cursed from the very off. Brendan Rodgers publicly labelled his £16 million move as a “calculated gamble.”

The Italian, despite being signed to try and replicate the crazy genius of Suarez, didn’t do well in his second spell in England. Balotelli scored four goals in 28 appearances for Liverpool before being sent out on loan to AC Milan.

It would be really pleasing if Balotelli went to France and finally performed to the level that many have expected of him. Wouldn’t that be Nice?

I’m deeply sorry, but I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to use that.
