Liverpool take on Tottenham this weekend and Klopp spoke to the media ahead of the clash to fill in the necessary blanks.
Daniel Sturridge was last night reported as being frustrated at being played on the wing but Klopp has dismissed these assertions and has said that Sturridge is aware of his role within the ‘flexible’ Liverpool squad.
According to Goal.com, Klopp said, “I don’t want to play Daniel as a wide player. Of course he can start there, of course he can play there, but in the decisive moments, he needs to be involved in all the finishing situations.
“Both goals [against Burton] he scored from inside the box, so he was not on the wing at those moments. That’s flexible football, but you need to find a formation for players to start in. Burnley and Burton were games where we actually didn’t need an offensive winger, that job should be filled by the full-backs.
Liverpool could be without Emre Can and Divock Origi on Saturday. Can being absent could see Marko Grujic be given his first start of the season. It is more likely, however, that Klopp will play Georginio Wijnaldum given that he is used to the Premier League already.
