Jürgen Klopp spoke to the media ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Burton Albion.
Liverpool take on Burton Albion tomorrow evening in the EFL Cup, formerly known as the Football League Cup, and will be looking to use the game as a way to bounce back from the disappointment of Premier League defeat to Burnley on the weekend.
Once again, Klopp said the he won’t be rotating the team heavily in cup games like he did last season. That being said, players like Emre Can, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip who either haven’t played much or at all will be given an opportunity to get out there.
It has been obvious for some time that Klopp really dislikes the transfer window and the crazy speculation that comes with it and he has said that he “can’t wait” for the close of the window which will bring an end to ‘silly season’, hopefully.
Many people, myself included, criticized Klopp’s decision to play Daniel Sturridge in place of Divock Origi but it may be that he did so because the Belgian is not yet up to the ‘rhythm’ that is required by Klopp. Whether or not the young forward plays tomorrow is yet to be decided.
The best news to come from the presser is that there are no new injuries which means that only Mamadou Sakho, Joe Gomez, Lucas Leiva, Loris Karius and Sheyi Ojo are unavailable.
