Crystal Palace have agreed a £32 million transfer fee with Liverpool for the transfer of Christian Benteke, according to Sky Sports.

The Belgian has been the subject of drawn out transfer speculation this summer with several clubs being linked with a move for the former-Aston Villa hit man.

By signing Benteke for £32 million, only £500,000 less than Liverpool paid for him last summer, Palace make Liverpool’s number 9 their most expensive signing  in history. However, by breaking their transfer record they bring a player into the fold who almost guarantees them goals in the system they utilize.

Benteke scored 9 goals in 14 Premier League starts for Liverpool and his imaoct will be massively improved upon his move to Palace due to style of play that Alan Pardew employs. While the style of football that the Londoners employ is still relatively intense there is a difference to the way Liverpool plays. The Reds don’t offer the kind of support that a big striker like Benteke, or Andy Carrol, thrives on. This means that his move to London should restore him to the fearsome forward he was when he was a Villain.
