Jürgen Klopp spoke to the media ahead of the Reds’ Premier League encounter with Burnley at Turf Moor tomorrow.
Liverpool currently sit in second place in the Premier League table but considering there has been only one week of football so far it is hardly a brag-worthy feat. I remember a couple years ago Wolverhampton Wanderers were top of the log for a couple weeks only to be relegated the same season. So, I don’t think being close to the top table will be too important right now.
With that in mind it’s important to consider that Klopp will still be unrelenting in these opening weeks of the season and if the Reds put in several good performances against the likes of Spurs, Chelsea and Leicester in coming weeks it set Liverpool up for an exciting season.
Liverpool will be without Lucas Leiva, Sadio Mane, Sheyi Ojo and Loris Karius for the trip to Turf Moor tomorrow. However, Klopp still has plenty of options across the park and it is likely that the Reds will opt for a similar approach to the Arsenal game although it’s likely that Klopp’s side will have the lion share of the possession.
The game will offer the opportunity for Daniel Sturridge to make yet another return from injury as the phyisos at Liverpool cleared the Englishman to train and he spent the week down at Melwood going through his paces along with James Milner who has returned from heel niggle.
