Jürgen Klopp spoke to Sky Sports after the game and was very pleased with his team’s performance.

Throughout Liverpool’s pre-season a theme in Klopp’s media appearances has been that his team are not yet perfect and have plenty of room to improve in. However, yesterday Liverpool were as close to perfect as possible given that there were several players missing through injury and that the opposition was Barcelona.

This post-match interview was the first indication that Klopp thinks his team are anywhere near meeting his high standards. He mentions Divock Origi and Kevin Stewart as being stand out performers from last night’s mauling of Barcelona as well as Sadio Mané for his mercurial display.

Interestingly, he singled out Roberto Firmino as his ‘player of pre-season.’
