Liverpool have sent Jon Flanagan out on a season long loan to Burnley, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The young Scouser will spend the 2016/17 season on loan at Burnley under Sean Dyche who can help the fullback develope after the last two years of Flanno’s career being spoilt by constant injury.

The Clarets are in the Premier League which means that Flanagan will be able to ply his trade at the highest level – just not with Liverpool. The 23-year old did not tour with Liverpool as a result of Burnley’s offer.

The Liverpool-born defender signed a new deal in March and has decided to go out on loan as a way to get some game time under his belt and hopefully return with a chance of impressing Klopp. However, his departure leaves Liverpool with less depth in both fullback slots due to his ability to play both right and left back.

Flanagan could make his debut for the newly promoted side against Swansea at Turf Moor on the opening day of the season.
