Dutch website Soccer News is reporting that Liverpool could make a move for Jetro Willems.
It is a widely shared opinion that a position that Jürgen Klopp needs to strengthen is left back. While he is a loveable character, Alberto Moreno is a very poor defender. Supporters have called for a change after the former-Sevilla man made two costly errors in two separate finals.
If you are to look at Liverpool’s current lineup without bias it is difficult not to be impressed. Too often big name signings are heralded too much, especially given the combined cost of last season’s PFA Team of the Year cost being less than it took Manchester City to buy Raheem Sterling.
Liverpool need to sign a fullback and then the final piece of the puzzle will fall into place. Klopp has managed to assemble a very well balanced squad in just a few weeks and the signing of a softback will mean that there won’t be any glaring errors in his design.
With Brad Smith on the verge of a summer transfer to Bournemouth, signing a left back is almost guaranteed. The left side of Liverpool’s defence is undeniably the squad’s weak point. Moreno’s tendency has cost Liverpool in the past and, if kept on as first choice fullback, it will continue to haunt the Anfield faithful.
Signing Willems would take around 13 million pounds.
