According to German newspaper Bild, Liverpool have made an enquiry regarding the availability of Shalke’s Max Meyer.

It would appear as though Liverpool’s transfer committee will stop at nothing until they have signed every single attacking midfielder under the age of 25.

It’s frustrating to read article after article linking the club with just about every attack minded midfielder on the continent when Liverpool haven’t had an accomplished since Javier Mascherano prowled around Anfield.

Bild claim that Jürgen Klopp has been an admirer of Meyer ever since his managerial days in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year old is yet another product of the Shalke academy with recent graduates Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka just a couple of the stars that the German youth academy has produced.

Klopp could finally get his man and Liverpool could be where he gets him. Fenway Sports Group will have to fork out around £27 million to make this deal happen. It’s hard to see FSG coughing up more money to spend on another attacking midfield player. That being said, nobody expected FSG to sanction a £32.5 million transfer for Christian Benteke so crazier things have happened.
