After yesterday’s Turkish themed transfer roundup I assumed it wouldn’t continue into today but Mario Balotelli has been linked with a move to Fenerbache.
It would seem as though Joe Allen’s future isn’t looking as clear cut as it did a few weeks ago. The Welshman’s highly impressive displays at the Euros with Wales have made fans rethink their opinion of the diminutive midfielder.
Jürgen Klopp seems to have had a similar revolution and looks set to have discussions with Allen about his future at Anfield:
“We will find a solution, but it’s not done,” Klopp said Liverpool’s second friendly against Fleetwood.
“Obviously Joe Allen is a good player. We never doubted this. He played a good European Championship, like the whole Welsh team.
“We have to make decisions, we have to find solutions. We have to talk to the player, ask the player and think about our situation. That’s how it works.”
Given Liverpool’s lack in depth in midfield it would be unwise to sell Allen, especially since he is accustomed to the Premier League unlike some of Liverpool’s midfield targets.
According to the Daily Express, Fenerbache are ready to take on troubled forward, Mario Balotelli. The Italian spent last season on loan at AC Milan after failing to make an impact at Liverpool. Klopp has already made it clear that there is no room for him at Liverpool:
“With a lot of players it is not the moment to talk of transfers as it could kill all talks by saying someone was 70 per cent to sign him or whatever,” Klopp explained, reported by the Mirror.
“But I can talk of Mario because that one is obvious and I have spoken to him about this.
“He’s not at the stage of his career where he should be battling with four or five other players for one or two positions.
“We want him to become the player he was before his injury and the talent is still there, there’s no doubt about it. When we have done the crossing, heading and stuff in training, he has been world class.
“But this is not a situation where he should be battling with other players like this for one position, so it’s clear we need a solution.”
Klopp seems to fancy the idea of having three exciting Brazilians running the show next season. The Telegraph are reporting Liverpool’s interest in bring Lucas Moura to Anfield. It’s difficult to see how one could accommodate all of Coutinho, Firmino, Mané and Moura behind one of Sturridge or Origi but having options like that is very pleasing.
That being said, the Klopp effect would have to be particularly effective to entice Moura from Paris to Liverpool with no European football and with Unai Emery taking over PSG he has everything going for him.
Don’t bet your mortgage on this one.
That’s all for today. Cheers, folks.
