It would seem as though every significant transfer report today is coming from Turkey. Lucas Leiva, Martin Skrtel and and Ozan Tufan make the headlines today.
First off, we have a report claiming that Galatasaray are lining up a €4 million offer for Liverpool’s current longest serving player, Lucas Leiva. The Brazilian has been admired by Turkish clubs for a long time with his disruptive style of play suitable for the Super Lig. He has been wanted by all of Besiktas, Fenerbache and Galatasaray at on or another time.
The report comes from Turkish newspaper, AMK claiming that Galatasaray’s director of football, Cenk Ergun will be in talks will Liverpool representatives in the coming days. If this is true then signing a new defensive midfielder has to become a top priority. Lucas is the only specialist holding midfielder at the club and his departure would see Liverpool shorthanded in the defensive midfield department.
The fact that Lucas has only one year remaining on his current contract with Liverpool could play an important role as to whether or not the club sell him. Cashing in on him would provide funds for the purchase of a replacement but not selling him could see the loyal Brazilian leave on a free transfer after next season.
According to the Mirror, Besiktas could challenge Galatasaray for Lucas’ signature. Besiktas almost signed Liverpool’s number 21 last season but Brendan Rodgers pulled the plug at the last minute.

Elsewhere in Turkey, Liverpool have been linked with the signing of Fenerbache’s midfielder, Ozan Tufan. The Turk has been linked with the Reds before despite a lack of any substantial movement in the transfer market to bring him to England.
Although the Turkish international only made 9 appearances last season it hasn’t seemed to deter Liverpool. Manchester United and Everton are also said to be circling.
While Liverpool may be keen on the 21 year old, Fenerbache are supposedly “desperate” to keep Tufan who has four years left on his contract.
Martin Skrtel, who has been a loyal servant at Liverpool for 8 and a half years has completed his medical with Fenerbache, according to Sky Sports. The Slovakian has been in and out of the team at Anfield for a few seasons but with Klopp’s arrival he found it virtually impossible to cement a place in the Reds’ starting lineup.
Skrtel has completed his medical checks ahead of a £5.5 million move to Fenerbache.
That concludes our Turkish themed transfer roundup! Cheers, folks.
