New week, new rumours. It’s Monday and the transfer window is open which means a relentless flow of Liverpool-related transfer rumours.

Lucas Leiva is far from Liverpool’s most technically gifted midfielder but he has been an essential cog in the Liverpool machine for several years. He is the longest serving  player at the club but there have been suggestions that perhaps the Brazilian would do well to move on.

Last season Liverpool’s robust holding midfielder found form immediately when Jürgen Klopp took over in October. It seemed as if the German coach had breathed life into a career which had begun to stagnate under Brendan Rodger’s management.

Unfortunately for Lucas, Emre Can experienced a similar change in fortune under Klopp. The youthful and exuberant German displaced Lucas for the remainder of the season and the Brazilian was only able to find sporadic game time at centre-half in place of the shocking Martin Skrtel, who seems destined on a summer exit.

It has emerged that Lucas is the subject of interest from Besiktas. According to Fanatik, via TalkSPORT, the Turkish side have enquired about the availability of Lucas for a permanent transfer.

Besiktas’ interest in Lucas has been ongoing for awhile with a move almost completed last season for the defensive midfielder. Should Liverpool sell Lucas the club may find themselves shorthanded in midfield with Joe Allen highly tipped to leave this summer.

It would appear as though Liverpool are the first club to fully cross the threshold into ‘silly season.’

Liverpool’s interest in Mahmoud Dahoud has been much publicized and fans on social media have found the need to become involved in efforts to sign the talented German. Thousands of people have taken to Snapchat to urge the Borussia Mönchengladbach star to join Liverpool.

As ridiculous and pathetic as that may seem, it’s not the worst part unfortunately.

People have taken to stalking Dahoud’s personal Instagram account. It pains me to say that a large portion of Liverpool fans that are active on social media believe that Dahoud following the Premier League’s official account constitutes as an indication of his desire to join.

It doesn’t help that he liked a picture of Klopp and Buvac at Liverpool’s pre-season training. In news that can actually be called news, Ruben Neves is reportedly interesting Liverpool and Manchester United.

Over the last 12 months the Porto prodigy has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal. Although he wasn’t selected for the Euros, Neves has earned 2 caps and has appeared 75 times for Porto in all competitions.

According to website DN Sports Klopp is a huge admirer of the dynamic midfielder. This doesn’t necessarily mean a move is on for the Portuguese youngster. That being said, DN Sports are claiming that a €20 million deal is being negotiated.

On the hand, O Jogo are suggesting that Manchester United are in the favourites to sign Neves. With the club’s primary holding midfielder, Danilo set to remain at the club it is understood that Porto will allow a deal to go through.
