Friday’s transfer roundup brings us news that Southampton will continue to extort Liverpool with a fee of £30 million reported to be the sum required for Sadio Mané.
I would really love to have Sadio Mané at Liverpool but not at the price that Southampton claim he is worth. The ‘Saints’, and it’s really just a nickname, have charged the Reds £67.5 million for Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne. Should Mané sign, this sum will reach just short of £100 million on players just from Southampton.
All four of these players are brilliant players in their own rights but their signings raise questions due to the sheer amount of money they require to get done. If they had been signed for cheaper then I am confident that fans would have a greater appreciation for their talents.
Sadio Mané’s signature will come at a reported price of around £30 million, according to the Liverpool Echo. This raises eyebrows and it should. Arsenal signed Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona in 2014 for a fee reported to be £31.7 million. While I may be a fan of Mané’s he is certainly not on the Chilean’s level
The Echo’s David Prentice reports that deal will be completed be next week at the earliest.
He will bring a real goal threat from wide positions with his pace and power a constant nuisance to Premier League defenders last season. Here is a compilation of the goals Mané scored last season:
Liverpool have also been linked with Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perišić with it being reported that Klopp is keen to work with the Croatian again after their time together at Borussia Dortmund. Another former player who has been linked with Liverpool is Mario Götze and with his rejection of the Reds he may off to North London to join up with fellow Germans at Arsenal.
I look forward to bring you tomorrow’s fabrications and outrageous news concerning Liverpool Football Club. Cheers folks.
