According to Napoli’s Radio Kiss Kiss, Fabri Corsi, the Chairman of Empoli, has said that Piotr Zieliński should snub Liverpool in favour of a move to Napoli.
The 22 year old has been on loan at Empoli for the last two years and has become a target for a number of clubs after a brilliant 2015/16 season spent in midfield for the Serie A outfit.
The Polish international earned a call-up to take part at Euro 2016 with his showings last season clearly deserving of something bigger and better.
It was reported by the Guardian recently that Liverpool had submitted a £9.5 million bid for the Polish midfielder. However, the Merseyside club will have to battle it out with Napoli to secure Zielinski’s services. The Serie A runners up are managed by a former boss of Zielinski’s in Maurizio Sarri.
Many people may say the opportunity of reuniting with a former manager could prove disastrous for Liverpool, but I disagree. Jürgen Klopp is the manager of Liverpool and Zieliński wants to play in the Premier League. And according to Fabrizio Corsi, the chance to play in England’s top flight may be too good an opportunity to miss out on.
Corsi, while speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, said that he believes Zieliński may already have had his head turned by Klopp. Apparently the German manager has been talking to Udinese’s player since January.
If ever a deal seemed likely, it’s this one. I mean, he was pictured wearing a Liverpool shirt a few weeks ago. If that’s not a player screaming: “Come and get me, now!” – then I don’t know what is.
