Liverpool Could Swoop For £24 million Real Madrid Midfielder

According to reports, Liverpool are interested in bringing Croatian pass master, Mateo Kovacic to the club and that Real Madrid are demanding a fee of £24 million.

Kovacic, who signed for Madrid from Inter Milan, has only made 8 starts since his arrival. It is believed that he is looking for regular football and there are suggestions that Liverpool could be his destination. The irony is that Brendan Rodgers tried to sign him during his time as manager.

Reports of the Croatian midfielder’s unrest come from Gazetto dello Sport. It was originally thought that Real Madrid would be open to a loan deal but it now seems as though the Spanish giants would only be willing to let Kovacic go permanently and for a minimum of £24 million.

Talk Sport claim Liverpool have already had a loan deal rejected.

Liverpool are on the lookout for a midfielder with quality and Kovacic certainly fits the bill. With Joe Allen likely to leave the club and Lucas Leiva past his best, a young and dynamic midfielder is required.

Should Kovacic join the club it could improve Liverpool’s starting lineup for next season dramatically. Potentially, Klopp could have midfield options featuring  Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Madrid’s unsettled creative talent, Kovacic.

With Daniel Sturridge seemingly returning to form and fitness, next season could be hugely exciting for Liverpool fans. There is also the advantage that the Reds don’t have the distraction of European football and will be able to focus solely on the Premier League and domestic cup tournaments.

Here is what Kovacic is capable of when selected:

Just like you, I am a hugely passionate Liverpool supporter. I started Rousing the Kop in January 2015 and since then it has grown tremendously and has even been nominated as 'Best New Football Blog' in the Football Blogging Awards.

  1. Klopp and Liverpool must get powerful Kovacic if he is available . This young star is one of the best attacking midfielders I have come across for a long time .
