Liverpool are in the market for a pacy attacker and according to the Evening Standard Arsenal’s Theo Walcott is on Jürgen Klopp’s radar.
Liverpool have been linked with a host of attacking players but a £25 million bid for Theo Walcott is as unappealing as they come.
Arsenal’s winger is just as injury-plagued as Daniel Sturridge. The speed which brought him prominence in England is no where near what it used to be as a result of his numerous injuries.
While he could be a great player for Liverpool the inflation on his price tag due to him being English makes the deal one I would rather avoid. For £25 million you could sign better players who have better injury records.
Walcott netted 9 times in 41 appearances for the Gunners last season which is one less than Christian Benteke. While it is worth noting that the number 14 isn’t an out and out striker, Liverpool need to find players that can deliver the goods in abundance and won’t buckle with injuries.
I would be pleased to find out that this is just a rumour. With the Euros well and truly underway it is unlikely any transfers will be finalized until the tournament finishes on the 11th of July.
